Man Who Said He Had COVID-19 Coughed In Officer's Face: Police
MCHENRY, IL — A 21-year-old McHenry man who told police he had COVID-19 coughed in an officer's face and bit a hospital security officer in the arm following a suspected DUI crash in the 800 block of Curran Road Monday evening, according to police, the Northwest Herald reports.
Jonathon T. Larson has been charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated assault to a peace officer and driving under the influence/alcohol in connection with the Monday incident, according to online jail records. He remained in custody as of early Wednesday on a $50,000 bail.
McHenry police spokesman Patrick Polidori told the Northwest Herald that Larson intentionally coughed in the officer's face after the officer performed field sobriety tests on him. Police say they suspect Larson was under the influence of alcohol when he drove his 2008 Lexus off the road in the 800 block of Curran Road. He also later bit a hospital security officer in the arm, breaking the skin, police said.
It's unclear if Larson had actually tested positive for COVID-19, Polidori told the newspaper. He is next expected in court on Friday.
