Man sentenced for hacking multiple women’s Snapchat accounts
EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A man has been sentenced after he pled guilty to hacking multiple women’s Snapchat accounts and selling their pictures.
According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Brandon B. Boyer, 34, of Pottsville, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for a computer hacking offense of obtaining information from protected computers.
Investigators say for two years, from February 2020 to February 2022, Boyer accessed the computers of dozens of women to search for and obtain nude photos that he could then sell. Boyer was intrusted by “clients” who paid him to break into the victims’ Snapchat accounts
and take the images, police said.

Detectives stated Boyer admitted that he accomplished this through the use of an app that allowed him to send text messages to victims posing as a Snapchat representative, known as “phishing.”
Officials said Boyer then tricked the victims into changing their passwords and sending him the verification codes that were generated.
Boyer earned between $50,000 and $60,000 from this activity. Police noted some of Boyer’s “clients” used the photos to cyberstalk and attempt to extort victims into providing additional photos.
