Man sets up female dating profile to learn pick-up techniques from other men, gets exact opposite

Women are no stranger to the plethora of creeps, gross sexual messages and unwanted pictures that come with online dating. But recently, comedian Sy Thomas discovered this first hand when he sets up a fake female dating profile.

“I am a single man growing increasingly frustrated with online dating,“ Thomas says in the video. "It got me thinking, what if I was a woman? Maybe I’d learn techniques from the men who were trying to woo me?”

A makeover and a few selfies later, Thomas set up his new dating profile and waited for the messages to trickle in.

Except they didn’t trickle. Instead, he was inundated with over 400 messages in just three days. What started as a way to learn how to chat with women quickly turned into plenty of ways on how not to talk to women.

While not all intros were as rude or cringeworthy (some were even sweet), the vast majority left much to be desired.

Meanwhile, aside from discovering he was very popular as a woman, Thomas concluded that a simple “Hi” was all it takes.

“The best messages were the ones who were genuine and nice,” he says. “Those were the ones that hit home.”
