Man shoots gun 14 times in San Rafael apartment parking lot

(BCN) — A San Rafael man was arrested for public intoxication and allegedly firing a gun earlier this week, according to police.

Police received a call at 9 a.m. Monday reporting a man shooting a gun in the 300 block of Canal Street. A witness saw the person firing multiple shots into the ground before throwing the handgun into a vehicle.

Officers arrived and surrounded the parking lot, using a drone to investigate the vehicle that the suspect had reportedly gotten into. After the drone was deployed, police approached the car with an armored shield and found the suspect unresponsive in the driver’s seat.

Officers allege that the man would not cooperate with their commands and they had to open the vehicle’s door and take him into custody.

The suspect was identified as 57-year-old Nardo Deleon. Police allege he fired the handgun up to 14 times due to the number of casings found at the scene. No one was injured.

Deleon was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of felony willful and negligent discharging of a firearm in public, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and public intoxication.
