Eugene man charged with first-degree assault in connection to downtown shooting

A 23-year-old Eugene man was charged with first-degree assault on Monday in connection to a shooting in downtown Eugene early Saturday morning.

The suspect, Kelon Donald Logan, was arraigned in Lane County Circuit Court for one count of assault.

Eugene officers heard gunfire around 2:15 a.m. in front of The Davis restaurant on West Broadway, according to a news release from the Eugene Police Department. Officers arrived at the scene and found a man had been shot while Logan had been detained by another person.

Logan was arrested and officers aided the victim before both were taken to the hospital. Logan remains in Lane County Jail as of Monday.
