Man shot at while sitting in car in Hartford, police say

Police said they are investigating an incident in which a resident was shot at last week while sitting in his parked car.

Officers responded to an alert from the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 18. They talked to a man who told them two shots were fired in his direction from an unfamiliar white vehicle as he sat in a parked car on Monroe Street, they said. He wasn’t injured.

Police said they found two bullet holes in his car. They recovered one of the projectiles and tagged it as evidence; they also recovered the spent casings.

The incident was captured on a private home security camera, police said. Investigators also are checking city cameras for additional footage.

Anyone with information that may help investigators is asked to call police at 860-757-4000 or the police department’s anonymous tip line, 860-722-8477 (TIPS).
