Man slashed in face with box cutter during quarrel with stranger on Manhattan subway train over kicked bag

A straphanger was slashed in the face with a box cutter on a Manhattan subway train during a rush-hour argument with a stranger over a kicked bag, officials said Thursday.

The 61-year-old victim was on an L train entering Manhattan when a man wearing a Louis Vuitton face mask walked by and kicked his bag, which was on the car floor, about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday

“What’s the matter with you?” the victim asked, sparking an argument with the kicker, according to cops.

As the spat heated up, the kicker flashed a box cutter and raked it across the victim’s right cheek, leaving him with a slash wound, cops said.

The attacker ran off the train when the doors opened at the First Ave. stop, officials said. Medics took the victim to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.

It wasn’t clear if the assailant intentionally kicked the bag or did so accidentally.

On Thursday, cops released surveillance images of the suspect and asked the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.

He’s described as Black and between 20 and 30. He was wearing a black North Face jacket, red hoodie, blue jeans, a red bandanna and light-colored sneakers.
