A man has vowed never to eat Quavers again after he claimed he snapped his tooth on a metal zip hidden inside a packet of the crisps.

Paul Ford, 33, said he was watching TV while eating the prawn cocktail flavoured snack when he suddenly felt blood in his mouth.

He then realised a hard piece of metal was hidden inside one of the curly crisps and that he had snapped his front tooth while eating it.

Paul, a full-time actor from Blackburn, said: "At first, I didn’t think much of it as I thought it was just one of those hard, overcooked crisps, then I could taste blood in my mouth.

"I looked in the mirror and thought 'oh no'."

The incident happened on 8 July, but Paul says he was only able to get a dentist appointment on 17 July, where his tooth was flattened and shaved back to the gum.

He will have a denture inserted where the tooth was but it means he will be out of work until it's fixed.

Paul added: "They took a mould of my mouth and they’re going to have to put a denture in there. It’s going to cost me a fortune.

"It was £80 just for that appointment and I have to go back for four more."

Paul was meant to be filming a Channel 5 film called Hard Work Pays Off the day after he broke his tooth but had to take time off, which he said cost him £1,500.

Paul now hopes Walkers will pay for the denture or compensate him for the work he’s missed.

A Walkers spokesperson said: “We’re sorry to hear about Paul’s experience.

"The safety of our consumers is always our number one concern, and we take any issue like this very seriously.

"We have asked Paul to send the product and object to us so we can conduct a full investigation."
