Man sought for slaying in Hull is found dead

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office announced late Friday that the suspect wanted in connection with the slaying of a woman and the wounding of a man in Hull has been located and he is deceased.

The sheriff's office has not released further details, but said the matter is still under investiation.

Deputies began a manhunt for William Blaine Epps, 40, who left the scene of the shooting in a black 2009 Volvo station wagon, according to the sheriff's office.

A lookout was posted for the suspect and the car, but hours passed without any sightings.

The shooting occurred about 8 a.m. at a home on Garnett Ward Road, a road that intersects with U.S. Highway 29 and travels north toward Highway 106.

Patton said a young woman died in the shooting and an elderly male was shot in the leg and has a non-life threatening wound. The name of the victim was not available for release.

Deputies did not know which direction of travel that Epps took upon leaving the house. Patton said an aviation search also occurred.
