Police are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate a man accused of stabbing a sergeant in the U.S. Army early Thursday outside the Army Reserve Center on Corrine Drive in Orlando, according to Orlando Police Department spokesperson Autumn Jones and U.S. Army spokesperson William Ritter.

The sergeant is in stable condition at the hospital as of Friday morning, after he was stabbed on his way into the reserve center just before 7 a.m. Thursday, Ritter said. He was the first to arrive to his building, where he worked administrative and logistical support for his battalion, and was unlocking the gate when he was attacked. Ritter asked the soldier not be identified because the suspect has not yet been identified or found.

Officials described the suspect as approximately 35 years old, about 6-foot-2 and 270 lbs., with short facial hair. He was wearing a dark gray, hooded sweatshirt with a Nike logo on the chest, black athletic shorts, a facemask and black gloves.

OPD said people should not approach the man if they see him, but immediately call 911, the police department at 321-235-5300 or the anonymous tip line at 1-800-423-8477.
