Man stabbed, beaten with bat on Queens street, say witnesses, NYPD
A man was critically injured when he was beaten with a bat and repeatedly stabbed on a Queens street Friday afternoon, cops said.
The beatdown occurred between two parked cars on 48th St. near 47th Ave. in Sunnyside at about 3:50 p.m., cops and witnesses said.
“He tried to kill him,” said witness Abel Seville, 34. “After he beat him, he stabbed him at least three times in the body and once in the face.”
“He was bleeding real bad,” Seville said.
The unidentified victim, believed to be in his 30s, suffered five stab wounds about the body, cops said. Medics rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he was in critical condition late Friday.
The victim was accompanied by a woman, said witnesses. “The woman was screaming and crying,” Seville said.
Cops later brought the attacker out of a nearby building, Seville said.
Police said a man and a woman were taken into custody as persons of interest in the investigation. Both participated in the attack, said police.
As of late Friday, neither person had been charged, said cops.
