Man struck by disbelief checks lottery numbers 3 times after winning massive prize

A Missouri man could not believe his luck after he won a seven-figure prize playing the lottery.

The man, who has not been identified, bought his winning Mega Millions ticket at Casey’s, a convenience store, in Salem, according to a July 13 news release from the Missouri Lottery.

The day after buying his ticket, he checked his numbers and was struck with disbelief after seeing he had won $1 million.

“I read it the first time, then I read it a second time, and then I read it a third time just to make sure I wasn’t reading something wrong,” he told lottery officials.

The man plans to use his newfound riches for retirement.

“I’m getting close to that, so this will make that much better,” he told lottery officials.

Salem is about 125 miles southwest of St. Louis.
