Man struck and killed while crossing Route 9 in Framingham; police investigating

FRAMINGHAM — A man was killed Monday night when he was struck by a vehicle as he crossed Route 9, authorities said.

The man, who authorities have not yet identified, was in his 40s.

According to a press release from the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, the man was crossing north on Route 9 near the intersection of California Avenue at 9:01 p.m. when he was struck by a 1986 Mazda RX7 that was traveling in the left travel lane westbound.

The DA's Office said the driver then allegedly struck the center median.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

The DA's Office said the driver remained at the scene and was subsequently transported to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries suffered during the crash.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Framingham Police Department and the DA’s Office. The driver, who also has not been identified, has not been cited.
