Man suspected of cutting Fond du Lac woman with a knife during a Jan. 7 incident arrested in Chicago

FOND DU LAC – The suspect in a Jan. 7 domestic violence incident in Fond du Lac that sent a 39-year-old woman to the hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries has been arrested in Chicago.

The 46-year-old male suspect was arrested May 23 with assistance from the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and is being held at Cook County Jail awaiting extradition back to Wisconsin, Fond du Lac Police Department said in a news release May 26.

A nationwide extraditable search warrant had been issued for the suspect Jan. 18 for attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

Jan. 7, police were called at around 3:30 a.m. to a domestic violence investigation where a 39-year-old woman had escaped from her apartment on South Main Street to the police department after she was cut multiple times with a knife by the suspect. Police said the woman was treated for lacerations to her neck and arms and released from the hospital.

No further details or information was immediately released May 26.

The Fond du Lac Reporter does not publish the names of suspects until they have been charged with a crime in court.
