Man with a syringe full of semen sneak attacks woman in grocery store, Maryland cops say

Police in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, said Friday that semen was inside a syringe a man used to attack a woman inside a grocery store earlier this month.

Thomas Bryon Stemen, of Churchton, Maryland, was arrested Tuesday — a week after the attack, police said. There may be other victims who have been assaulted by Stemen in similar ways, the police department said.

Video released by the police department Monday shows a man, who police say is Stemen, entering a grocery store Feb. 18, then bumping into the female victim. The victim jumped back and appeared to be in pain following the attack.

After she was struck, she asked the man if he burned her with a cigarette, according to the Capital Gazette. The suspect responded, “Ya it felt like a bee sting didn’t it?” the Capital Gazette reported based on police documents.

The woman later observed a wet substance on her pants, according to the Baltimore Sun.

She sought medical treatment after observing a 4-inch wide red area on her buttocks the next day, according to the Capital Gazette.

Stemen was arrested earlier this week after the police department received a tip, Anne Arundel police said. He has been charged with first and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to police.

While reviewing surveillance video, police found that the suspect tried the same act on two additional women but missed, according to WBAL-TV.

“We need the two people that he attempted to get to come forward so that we can build a better case against him, so that he’ll never come back out of jail,” the victim told WBAL.

Stemen, 51, is being held in jail without bail, according to police.
