LANCASTER COUNTY, Pennsylvania (WJW) – Police are investigating text messages sent by a murder suspect before the death of his wife in Pennsylvania.

According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, Matthew Harrison, 48, was wanted on charges related to his wife’s strangulation death.

Police arrested Harrison after a short standoff Thursday.

The DA’s office said prior to Jami Harrison’s killing, Matthew Harrison sent alarming messages to her, other family members and co-workers.

The “demon in me broke free,” was a message sent from Matthew Harrison’s phone to a co-worker, according to the DA’s Office.

A press release from the district attorney states Matthew texted a family member he had been “having murder on my brain,” the day Jami’s body was found.

Police also allegedly discovered messages from Matthew to Jami that read, “You’re not getting away with this,” and “how’s that for your marriage,” and “If I’m going down your coming with me,” according to the release.

Police found Jami’s body in a home in Manheim, Pennsylvania on Monday, Feb. 5, following a 911 call from a child, police said.

An 11-year-old told dispatchers they had found Jami deceased, according to a press release.

“The juvenile told the dispatcher the suspect was ‘really mean’ and ‘hurts’ the victim,” the release states.

“Responding officers found the victim lying deceased on her bed with red marks on her neck and possible bruising on her forehead,” it continues.
