Man turns himself in after fatal crash 3 weeks ago; police say he was going 112 mph

A man turned himself in Friday for allegedly going more than three times the speed limit in his Chevrolet Camaro on Ocala Road, resulting in a fatal car accident three weeks ago.

Andre Holloman, 25, was arrested on charges of vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter and driving without a license. He is currently being held in the Leon County Detention Facility on bond for $2,500.

According to court records, Holloman was driving 112 miles per hour just three seconds before hitting the victim's Honda Civic. The speed limit on Ocala Road is 35 miles per hour.

"At night a typical driver has a reaction time of approximately 2.5 seconds to perceive a threat i.e., an approaching vehicle," court documents say. "(The victim) could not have known the Camaro was approaching due to the reckless driving by Mr. Holloman."

The 34-year-old victim died five days after the crash.

The impact of the accident sprayed vehicle debris over 350 feet, spanning all five lanes of the road in front of the Acasa Apartments. Law enforcement shut down lanes of the road while both drivers were taken to the hospital and the road was cleared.

Four other people were also in the car with Holloman, including the car's owner who was in the passenger seat.

While being assessed in the emergency room, lab reports indicated Holloman's blood alcohol level was .147 — almost double the legal limit.

He was also found with an expired Florida identification card at the time of the accident, according to records. He has never been issued a driver's license.
