A Salt Lake City police officer was patrolling the area near 800 S and 200 E in Salt Lake City Tuesday when he said he watched a vehicle pull into a 7/11 parking lot. He said he ran the license plate and learned the registered owner was a sex offender.

The officer contacted the SLCPD sex offender registry and learned that the owner, Hall, was allegedly a non-compliant sex offender, as he had moved from his last residence about a week prior but failed to notify the sex offender registry about the move.

Hall was placed under arrest and searched, and the officer said he found a clear glass pipe with black residue in Hall’s jacket pocket, along with 11 oxycodone fentanyl pills and methamphetamine.

Officers then did an inventory of Hall’s vehicle and reportedly found 18 different knives.

Hall allegedly told officers he would use the knives in “self-defense,” however as a convicted violent felon, he is restricted from possessing a weapon.

According to SLCPD, Hall was previously convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Hall was transported to the Salt Lake County Jail and booked on the previously mentioned charges.
