Man wanted for Brockton murder arrested in Raynham after pursuit, crash

RAYNHAM − Police say they have arrested a man wanted in connection with a 2022 Brockton murder following a motor vehicle crash and foot chase on Thursday.

State Police spokesperson David Procopio said troopers arrested David K. Lynch, 24, who is on the State Police Most Wanted list because of a warrant for his arrest charging him with murder in a November shooting on West Park Street in Brockton.

Around 3 p.m. on Thursday, troopers observed Lynch sitting in a BMW X1 SUV in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn hotel in Middleboro, Procopio said.

"As Troopers and Officers approached, the suspect rammed two police vehicles as he fled onto Route 44," Procopio said in an email. "The suspect was pursued for a short period of time until Troopers lost sight of the suspect vehicle."

Brockton police investigate a shooting at 19 West Park St. at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022. The victim, a 26-year-old man who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center at 12:06 a.m. Thursday.
Brockton police investigate a shooting at 19 West Park St. at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022. The victim, a 26-year-old man who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center at 12:06 a.m. Thursday.

Minutes later, police learned that the same vehicle struck another car at the intersection of Orchard and Warren streets in Raynham.

"The crash resulted in serious injuries to an occupant of that car," Procopio said. "Following the crash, the homicide suspect and his male passenger fled the scene on foot but were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit."

The driver of the vehicle that was struck, a 32-year-old Taunton woman, was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. State Police said she was later transferred to a Boston hospital on Thursday night in serious condition.

Lynch, who is in custody along with his passenger, was also taken to the hospital but under police guard. Police said he suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, but was later transferred to Boston Medical Center.

Procopio said troopers searched the BMW on Thursday evening and located two firearms.

The passenger, identified by police as Demarje Taylor, 23, of Chelsea, was treated and released from Good Samaritan and will be arraigned on gun possession charges.

There was a murder warrant out for Lynch's arrest in connection with the Nov. 2, 2022, fatal shooting of 26-year-old John Abreu Junior DePina.

Lynch was expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon from Boston Medical Center.
