Man wanted after allegedly assaulting woman on I-81

WILKES-BARRE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a woman while in a parked car on I-81.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on January 21 around 11:00 a.m., an assault took place in a parked car on Interstate 81 South in Wilkes-Barre.

Police say Julio Rivera-Lopez, 24, of Coal Township, punched a 23-year-old woman numerous times in the face after he accused her of giving him an STD.

The victim was able to escape from Rivera-Lopez at the Nuangola Dollar General and Rivera-Lopez fled the scene.

Troopers noted Rivera-Lopez has an active arrest warrant out of Pottsville for DUI and he is believed to be somewhere in the Shamokin area.
