Man and woman arrested in Sentosa over haul of 6kg of heroin and other drugs: CNB
SINGAPORE — A 41-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both Singaporeans, were arrested at a hotel room in Sentosa on Wednesday (27 July), leading to a drug haul of almost 2kg of heroin, more than 4kg of cannabis and other drugs.
In a post on Facebook on Friday, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said its officers seized a total of 1,893g of heroin, 270g of methamphetamine, or commonly known as ‘Ice’, 4,193g of cannabis and seven bottles of methadone, worth about $313,000 based on street value, following the arrest.
During the raid at Sentosa, the CNB officers found about 1,849g of heroin, 269g of ‘Ice’, 663g of cannabis and six bottles of methadone.
The duo were then escorted to their hideout at a private residential unit in Shenton Way on Thursday morning and about 44g of heroin, 1g of ‘Ice’, 3,530g of cannabis and one bottle of methadone were also seized.
“These traffickers have no qualms that their luxurious lifestyles - lavish holidays, luxury cars and private residential apartments – are at the expense of other innocent parties, such as the children or loved ones of the drug abusers. CNB remains firm in our mission of keeping Singapore drug-free,” said CNB’s Deputy Assistant Commissioner Aaron Tang, Director of Intelligence Division.
The CNB post includes a photo of a luxury sedan that was seized during the operation.
A person who is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of pure heroin, 250g of methamphetamine or 500g of cannabis, may face the mandatory death penalty.
