Man and Woman Pulled From Icy Pond in Texas

A police officer and firefighter were plunged into icy water as they rescued a man and a woman who fell through ice 20 feet from shore in a pond in Irving, Texas, on February 19, police said.

The police department has released this footage of the rescue, which took place at Thomas Jefferson Park, after officers were called out to a possible drowning.

“Police and fire personnel immediately started devising a plan to rescue the two individuals,” police said. “Two ladders were placed on the ice to allow a police officer and fireman to reach the male and female.”

“The ice broke, and all four were […] in the water. Other police and fire personnel were able to pull all to safety. We are happy to announce that everyone has made a full recovery,” police said. Credit: Irving Police Department via Storyful
