Two people are recovering from their injuries after jet skis they were riding crashed into each other on Friday.

Crisp County sheriff’s deputies say they responded to Lake Blackshear on Friday at 12 p.m. to reports of the jet skis crashing and the drivers being in the water.

Both victims, a man and a woman, were rescued from the water by a nearby boat.

The man was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital. His current condition is unknown.

The woman was checked out by paramedics on the scene and cleared.

“This incident could have quickly turned into a tragedy. However, thanks to a quick response from all involved, both individuals were rescued,” Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock said. “I am also grateful for the community we have here in Crisp County. Thank you to the citizens that assisted today and those that allowed us to commandeer their docks and property.”

There is no word on if the two victims knew one another.
