Manatee County water main leak repairs continue, and customers could see some side effects

Crews continue to repair a leaking watermain, and officials caution some Manatee County residents that their homes could receive discolored, but safe, drinking water and experience drops in water pressure during the process.

County officials first notified customers of the leak on Saturday, specifying that customers who live north of the Manatee River would be the most impacted and that repairs would be completed by Sunday. Those repairs will take longer than initially expected.

The leak occurred in a section of the water line from the 1970s, on a prestressed concrete cylinder pipe that is an integral part of the water delivery system, according to a county statement.

County officials do not anticipate any loss in service, although customers will be notified if interruptions are necessary. Any affected residents can call 311 for more information.
