Manchester earns key victory over Bristol Central

Oct. 15—The month of October has not been kind to the Manchester High girls soccer team. And if the Red Hawks want to play in the postseason in November, they need a strong finish to the month.

A second-half surge Friday may get them going in the right direction.

Liz Schoeneberger and Addie Hall scored second-half goals as Manchester topped Bristol Central 2-0 in CCC interdivisional action at Memorial Field.

The victory snapped a three-game winless streak for the Red Hawks (4-4-3), who had not won since beating Plainville Sept. 29.

Nina Montague earned the shutout in goal for Manchester with four saves and was aided by the defensive play of Savanah Reid.

Bristol Central is 6-4-1.

Manchester is at South Windsor Tuesday.

TOLLAND 3, NW CATHOLIC 2. Audrey Cadman's goal with 2:18 left lifted unbeaten Tolland to a CCC interdivisional home win.

The Eagles (9-0-2) overcame a 1-0 deficit as goals by Aiyanna Robles Sedano and Taylor Sztaba in a 2:05 span put them up by one with 26:12 to go. Emily Nicholas' second goal tied it for Northwest Catholic (6-3-2) three minutes later but Cadman, assisted by Petra Ali, netted the game-winner.
