Manchester man killed in Route 5/15 crash

Feb. 24—HARTFORD — State police are looking for any witnesses to a crash on Route 5/15 early Friday morning that killed a Manchester man.

Police said that around 2:15 a.m., a sedan operated by Joseph Johnson, 25, was traveling on Route 5/15 northbound, south of Exit 86, in the left lane.

Johnson lost control for "an unknown reason," police said, and the vehicle traveled to the left and collided with the concrete barrier in the median.

The car then traveled across the traffic lanes, drove through the guardrail on the right shoulder, collided with a tree, and came to an uncontrolled final rest beyond the road.

Johnson sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Any witnesses to the collision or anyone with a dashcam who drove through the area at the time are asked to contact Trooper Michael Dean at 860-534-1098, or by email at michael.dean@ct.gov.

Joseph covers Manchester and Bolton for the Journal Inquirer.
