Manchester man sentenced to 6 years for drugs

Feb. 21—A Manchester man was sentenced Tuesday in federal court to six years in prison for possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine with the intent to distribute the drugs, prosecutors said.

Jeffrey Hayes, 44, also was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Joseph Laplante to three years of supervised release.

In 2021, the Manchester Police Department investigated Hayes for drug distribution and eventually searched his residence. During the search, they found distribution-level quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Manchester police led the investigation.

"The devastation caused by fentanyl and methamphetamine touches every community in New Hampshire," U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young said. "Those who traffic these poisons like the defendant will be sentenced to prison for significant periods of time."
