MIDLAND − Western Beaver and Riverside high schools enjoyed big nights at the Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards Sunday, taking home the Best Musical awards in their respective budget categories.

Hosted by the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, the Mancini Awards annually honor the top high school musical production performances in the quad-county area of Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.

Sixteen high schools participated this year: 16 schools joining this year. Ambridge Area, Beaver County Christian School, Big Beaver Falls Area, Central Valley, Hopewell, Grove City, Knoch, Mars Area, Mohawk, Neshannock, New Brighton, New Castle, North Catholic, Riverside, Slippery Rock, and Western Beaver Jr./Sr. High School

The Best Actor and Best Actress recipients also advance to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmy Awards). They will join the winners from the CLO’s Gene Kelly Awards in Allegheny County, as well as winners from across the nation in New York City for a nine-day experience including private coaching, master classes, and rehearsals with theatre professional

Best Supporting Actor: Andy Hudak, Slippery Rock High School.

Best Supporting Actress: Katie Ball, Mars Area High School.

Best Ensemble: Western Beaver Junior/Senior High, "Sweeney Todd."

Best Choreography Execution: Mars, "The Drowsy Chaperone."

Best Crew Technical Execution: Mars, "The Drowsy Chaperone."

Best Execution of Direction: Western Beaver, "Sweeney Todd."

Best Student Orchestra: Knoch: "Disney's Newsies"

Best Scenic Design, Budget 1: Western Beaver, "Sweeney Todd".

Best Scenic Design, Budget 2, Riverside High, "Matilda The Musical."

Best Scenic Design, Budget 3: Mars, "The Drowsy Chaperone."

Best Costume Design, Budget 1: Slippery Rock High, "Disney's Beauty & The Beast."
