The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau has weighed in on Pedro Pascal's recent roles, finding a similarity between the Mandalorian and The Last of Us's Joel Miller.

Despite Din Djarin and Pascal's protagonist in the HBO adaptation of the video game being "completely different," there's a kinship between them in how they become unlikely father figures to Grogu and Ellie.

"It's amazing how much he's really cornered the market on this dad, protective father archetype," Favreau said of Pascal in an interview with Empire.

The Marvel star continued: "But they're different characters, though! Completely different characters, but both have that same... There's a central relationship of modelling a protective father in a not very communicative relationship."

Pascal is about to reprise the role of Din in the third instalment of the Star Wars-inspired series.

Premiering in just a few days on Disney+, this third chapter sees Din and Grogu going to Mandalore.

Now considered an apostate for removing his helmet last season, Pascal's bounty hunter is keen on going back to his planet to restore his reputation, with Baby Yoda gladly tagging along.

A previous teaser saw Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) urging Din and Grogu not to embark on any dangerous mission for their own safety, but the dynamic duo appear to have ignored that specific piece of advice.

The Mandalorian seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Disney+, where season 3 premieres on March 1. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.

The Last of Us airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK.
