Mandatory evacuations prompted by Red Feather Lakes fire lifted

A fire burning in Red Feather Lakes prompted mandatory evacuations in the area Sunday. As of about 8:45 p.m., those evacuations were lifted.

The fire began in Lone Pine Court in Red Feather Lakes and was contained to two homes there, Larimer County Sheriff's Office said in a tweet. The sheriff's office as well as Red Feather Lakes and Crystal Lakes fire departments responded.

Two structures impacted by fire, but no reported injuries

Sunday's fire in Red Feather Lakes was contained to two homes on Lone Pine Court and there have been no reported injuries, Larimer County Sheriff's Office said in a tweet.

Red Feather Lakes Fire Protection District is in command of the fire, the sheriff's office said.

Mandatory evacuations lifted, road closed for fire operations

Larimer County Sheriff's Office has lifted all mandatory evacuations related to the fire burning in Red Feather Lakes, the agency announced in an emergency alert just before 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

"All residents may return home," the sheriff's office said.

Ramona Drive from Red Feather Circle to Lone Pine Court is closed to vehicles to allow fire tankers to drop water, the sheriff's office announced, so those who access their property off of Ramona Drive must enter the area on foot. That closure is expected to be in place until about 10 p.m.

Mandatory evacuation area narrowed, some residents allowed to return home

The mandatory evacuation area tied to the wildfire in Red Feather Lakes has been narrowed, according to an emergency alert.

The new boundaries for the mandatory evacuation area are Larimer County Road 179 (also known as County Road 67J or Prairie Divide Road) on the west, Pipsissawa Lane on the east, Larimer County Road 74E on the south and approximately 1/4 mile north of Lone Pine Court.

Anyone living outside the updated boundaries can return home, the sheriff's office said in the alert.

The wildfire is located in Lone Pine Court in Red Feather Lakes, and mandatory evacuations were previously ordered for the Fox Acres area north of Larimer County Road 74E, east to include the Dowdy Lake area and west to Larimer County Road 73C.

An evacuation site is located at Cache La Poudre Middle School, 3515 W. County Road 54G in Laporte, the sheriff's office previously said.

Those still impacted by mandatory evacuation orders can contact Larimer Humane Society if they need help housing their pets, the humane society posted on social media. Call 970-226-3647 ext. 7.

Sheriff: Some structures lost in Red Feather Lakes fire

Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith said some structures have been lost in the wildfire burning in Red Feather Lakes.

"Sounds like resources are getting a handle on it, but some structures were lost," Smith said in a Facebook post, noting that he is currently out of state but monitoring the fire.

Additional details on the fire, including its size or the number of evacuees, have not been publicly released.

Mandatory evacuations ordered

Mandatory evacuations are ordered for the Fox Acres area north of Larimer County Road 74E, east to include the Dowdy Lake area and west to Larimer County Road 73C.

"All residents and visitors in the designated area should EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY," the sheriff said in an emergency alert.
