The luxurious Manhattan townhouse where Gwyneth Paltrow spent her teen years is currently on the market for $15.5 million. Located in the Upper East Side just off Fifth Avenue, the classic, Renaissance Revival–style residence is the epitome of old New York opulence. There are a total of seven bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms spread out across approximately 7,205 square feet and five floors.

Built in 1890 by architect Walter Reid Jr., the townhouse is distinct in its use of natural light. Situated in the middle of a block with low townhouses, it receives unobstructed amounts of sunlight through its exceptionally large windows. Original details include six wood-burning fireplaces, parquet wood floors, and crown molding. The garden level opens onto a grand foyer with charming checkerboard tiling that leads to an eat-in kitchen with a built-in banquette overlooking the back garden.

The third floor is where the main suite is located, featuring a spacious bedroom with a carved mantel fireplace, along with two bathrooms and an extensive walk-in closet. A wood-paneled library is also situated on this floor. The remaining bedrooms are scattered throughout the fourth and fifth floors; one bathroom has access to a private terrace that looks down below to the garden. According to the listing, the townhouse has unusual curved full-height bay windows that extend to the top floor, which further floods it with light.

Records show that the Academy Award winner’s parents, actor Blythe Danner and the late producer Bruce Paltrow, owned the property between 1984 and 1992. Gwyneth Paltrow herself previously owned an enviable Tribeca penthouse, which she sold for $10.7 million three years ago
