Manhunt underway after 3 people are shot at Pennsylvania amusement park

A manhunt is underway for a gunman who shot three people at an amusement park in Pennsylvania on Saturday, police said.

Three people, one of them a male juvenile, were hit during an altercation between two groups of male teenagers near the Musik Express ride at the Kennywood amusement park in West Mifflin, an Allegheny County police spokesman said at a news conference.

At least “two shots were fired,” the spokesman said, adding that the male juvenile was stable and that a man was treated and released. The third person was being treated for injuries.

The police spokesman said there was “an ongoing search” for the shooter, described as a Black man wearing a black Covid-style mask.

Several other people may have sustained minor injuries as a result of trampling as people rushed to get out, he added. He did not have an exact number.

The park in southeast Pittsburgh searched bags with metal detectors at the entrance, the spokesman said.

The park said in a statement that it was “working with local law enforcement.”

“The safety of our guests and team members are our top priority,” it said. “Members of the park’s security, Allegheny County, and West Mifflin police departments were already on site and immediately responded.”
