Manifest star Matt Long has booked a new TV pilot amid the series' cancellation drama.

The actor is set to star in NBC's Getaway alongside Annie Ilonzeh, CSI alum Marg Helgenberger, The Rookie's Jasmine Mathews and EJ Bonilla, seen in The Old Man.

According to Deadline, Long was approached after the options on the Manifest cast expired last month. The plane drama premiered in 2018 on NBC where it aired for three seasons before being prematurely axed in June 2021.

Talks about a season four resumed recently after Netflix expressed its interest in saving the show, originally envisioned as a six-season narrative. At present, both Netflix and NBC are in talks to renew the drama, which has found a larger audience on the streaming platform.

Long's character, hiker Zeke Landon, debuted as a recurring character in season one and got promoted to regular in the following two seasons. The actor's deal with Getaway is for one year if the series gets picked up, which means he would be able to return to Manifest for a possible fourth season.

Those who enjoyed the thrills provided by Manifest shouldn't worry, though, as Getaway also seems to guarantee spine-chilling moments.

The new series revolves around a group of guests attending a destination wedding at an isolated luxury resort taken hostage by dangerous criminals. The guests, led by a fearless army vet (Ilonzeh), will do everything they can to stay alive.

Long will play Jack, Grace's (Mathews) husband-to-be and Democratic Senator Charlotte Pierce's (Helgenberger) son. As per the character description, there seems to be a family personality clash between Jack and his mother.

The character has been described as a strong-willed type who "has always gotten everything he wanted" and is set on creating a professional career for himself separate from his mother and the family name.
