Manitoba Motorist Comes to the Rescue of Deer Stuck in River

Manitoba man Curtis Thacker was heading out to do some fishing on June 16 when he spotted a truck parked on the highway. When he went to investigate, he saw that the owner had pulled over to rescue a deer that was stuck in the Assiniboine River.

Footage captured by Thacker shows the good Samaritan, identified by Portage Online as Steven Miller, pulling the deer out of the river, near the Hoop and Holler Bend on Provincial Road 331.

Thacker told Portage Online that he stuck around to make sure Miller didn’t need any help while crossing the road or carrying the deer.

“Hats off to this guy and I’m happy I was there to film him and also be his backup if needed. Great job buddy,” Thacker wrote in a Facebook post. Credit: Curtis Thacker via Storyful
