Manitowoc police release description of suspect wanted in weekend shooting

MANITOWOC — Manitowoc police have released the description of a man they believe is a suspect in a shooting that happened Saturday on Viebahn Street.

According to a news release, the man is described as Black, 5-foot-9 to 6 feet in height, and in his 30s. He has a slim build, was clean shaven, has short black hair and was wearing dark-colored clothing. He may also have injuries on his face as a result of a fight with the victim.

The description was formed based on multiple witness interviews, the release said.

The shooting happened at an apartment in the 2700 block of Viebahn Street at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said they were called to the area for the report of a person who was shot.

Police said the victim sustained injuries and was taken by Manitowoc Fire Department to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived and, as of Monday afternoon, had not yet been located.

Police are asking for any information about the incident. People who give information that leads to the arrest of a person or people who were involved in the incident, which the release said was a robbery and an attempted homicide, could be eligible to receive a reward of up to $1,000.

People with information can call Crime Stoppers at 920-683-4466 or use the P3 App. They do have the option to remain anonymous if they choose. The release said people should refer to Manitowoc Police Department Incident No. 2023-15336 when they call.
