Manitowoc's road construction season begins. Here are the major projects planned this summer.
MANITOWOC - Your usual route to and from work or school may soon change as the orange cones and heavy equipment of construction season return to the Manitowoc area.
Here's a look at road construction projects happening in the county this spring and summer.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation projects
Resurfacing on Interstate 43
When: Now through November
What: Resurfacing of 15.5 miles of I-43 between State 310 in Manitowoc County and State 96 in Brown County, including all interchanges in that work zone. This project also includes the replacement or repair of culverts, end walls and cross drains, and a new concrete bridge deck overlay on State 96 over I-43.
Resurfacing on State 32/57
When: Now through June
What: Resurfacing of 4 miles of State 32/57 from State 67 to the city of Kiel. This project also includes the replacement or repair of culverts.
Silver Creek Bridge
When: Starts after June 15
What: The bridge, on State 42 just south of U.S. Hwy 151 in the city of Manitowoc, will be completely reconstructed.

County Trunk Highway V from State 42 to County Trunk Highway O

What: Repaving
County Trunk Highway O from County Trunk Highway V to Viceroy Road

North Eighth Street and North 10th Street between Waldo Boulevard and Washington Street
When: July 25-Aug. 15
What: Conversion from one-way streets to two-way streets. The conversion will include changed signage, signals and road markings.
Washington Street from South 21st Street to South 25th Street

What: Asphalt paving
Fleetwood Drive from Kellner Street to 600 feet east
When: To be announced
What: Storm sewer maintenance and concrete paving
Kellner Street from Fleetwood Drive to Menasha Avenue
