Manny’s knish collab stuffs Soul & Smoke brisket, mac and cheese, collards into one mouthwatering nosh

Manny’s new knish collaboration features Soul & Smoke smoked brisket, macaroni and cheese, plus collard greens — all stuffed into one Jewish- and barbecue-inspired nosh.

You’ll have to act fast, because the Manny’s x Soul & Smoke knish will only be available until Sunday. If you miss it, you won’t have to kvetch for long, as there are more Manny’s collabs to come.

“Manny’s is thrilled to be working with some of our favorite locations in the city to develop unique knishes that cross cultural and culinary boundaries for all to enjoy,” according to their posts on social media.

Look for upcoming knish collaborations with 3 Little Pigs Chi, the untraditional Chinese American virtual restaurant; Brown Sugar Bakery, famous for its caramel cake made at the Black woman-owned shop on the South Side; Gene & Georgetti steakhouse; Kindling, in the building formerly known as the Sears Tower; and Tripping Billy, the home cook diagnosed with muscular dystrophy who’s become best known for his pizza collaborations.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The series kicked off with Italian and Costa Rican knishes by Piccolo Sogno and Irazu restaurants, respectively.

The knish collaboration series is available at Manny’s for dine-in, takeout and delivery.

Brothers Jack and Charlie Raskin originally opened their Jewish-inspired deli in 1942. Manny’s fourth generation co-owner Dan Raskin can now be found most days at his historic family restaurant in the South Loop, unless he’s out making deliveries of one of the best corned beef sandwiches around Chicago.

Chef D’Andre Carter started Soul & Smoke as a takeout-only operation with his wife and partner, Heather Bublick, in 2015. The Tribune named their soul food and barbecue establishment as one of our 25 best new restaurants in 2022. They’ve now expanded to three locations and are building out a full-service space in Evanston expected this summer.

If you miss the Manny’s x Soul & Smoke knish, you could recreate the mish mosh nosh yourself. The deli always offers a classic knish on the menu, a pastry stuffed with beef and potato, then baked and served with brown gravy. Plus the barbecue house has a location nearby, at Time Out Market in the West Loop, as well as in Avondale, offering a brisket dinner including sides.

Follow Manny’s on social media for upcoming knish reveals, and Soul & Smoke for opening updates on its new full-service restaurant in Evanston.
