The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has identified a person who was found dead on Friday in Little Cow Creek in the area of Highway 299 East near Seaman Gulch Road.The person was identified as 59-year-old Alex Hays, Sr. His next of kin have been notified.

At 1:17 p.m. on Friday, Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a possible body in Liittle Cow Creek, located in an area where the vehicle of an at-risk missing person had been recently discovered in the stream.Deputies who responded confirmed the victim was deceased.

Due to the victim’s location and the swift moving water, the man's body was recovered by members of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team.

The Shasta County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy, authorities said.
