Mansfield Christian's Griffin Baker earns second-team All-Ohio in Division III boys soccer
COLUMBUS — The Mansfield Christian boys soccer team accomplished many things it hadn't in a long time.
The first Division III district championship since 2017 is the first one that comes to mind. The Flames won an outright Mid-Buckeye Conference championship and a sectional title as they ended up as one of the final 16 teams left standing in the tournament.
And they will credit a hard-nosed defensive effort for all of it. And the player who covered the last line of defense, senior goalkeeper Griffin Baker, was the one who most impressed the coaches of the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.
Baker took home second-team All-Ohio honors after he produced seven shutouts in the regular season and three more in the tournament as he did not allow a single goal through the district tournament. The Flames went 14-6-1 as Baker collected 108 total saves.
Baker is one of 56 players to earn All-Ohio honors in Division III presented by the OSSCA.
