Mansfield man, 82, dies in one-vehicle crash
An 82-year-old Mansfield man died from injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Ohio 430, according to the Mansfield post of the Highway Patrol.
Gearold L. Smith was traveling west on Ohio 430 in a 2016 Ford F-150 and failed to negotiate a curve at 5:23 p.m. Friday, the patrol said.
The pickup driver traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected and traveled off the left side of the road striking a tree. Smith was transported by life squad to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Ohio 430 was temporarily closed during the crash. Mifflin Township fire and emergency medical services and Valley's Towing assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under further investigation, the patrol said.
