Mansfield motorcyclist dies from injuries in Ashland County crash

CLEAR CREEK TOWNSHIP – Troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that occurred on state Route 545 at the intersection of West Main Street in Ashland County on Wednesday at about 12:30 p.m.

James Mcclurg, 51, of Mansfield, was traveling northbound on a 1994 Honda Shadow motorcycle on state Route 545 when he was struck by a Subaru Forester that failed to yield at the stop sign on West Main Street, according to a release from the Ashland Post of the State Highway Patrol.

Mcclurg received life-threatening injuries and was taken by helicopter to Akron City ICU, where he died Thursday as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the Subaru Forester, of Shiloh, was not injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the crash scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Savannah Fire and EMS and Fireland’s EMS. The intersection was closed for about an hour.
