Mansfield woman killed in 3-vehicle crash on US 23

CHILLICOTHE — Troopers from the Chillicothe Patrol Post responded to a three-vehicle traffic crash at approximately 9:49 a.m. Monday, on US 23 southbound near milepost 10 in Scioto Township.

A 2020 gray Chevrolet Equinox driven by Jaclyn S. Sitnek, 44, from Mansfield, was traveling south on US 23. A 2017 yellow Mack commercial truck driven by Randy Parmley, 45, from Ashland, Kentucky, was traveling south on US 23. A 2017 red Chrysler Town and Country driven by Leon Flinders, 81, from Piketon, was traveling north on US 23.

According to the patrol, Chevrolet Equinox lost control, went off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. The vehicle spun back onto the roadway and went under the trailer attached to the Mack commercial truck. The Mack commercial truck and the Chevrolet Equinox traveled off the left side of the roadway into the median. The Chrysler Town and Country was struck by flying debris as the crash occurred.

Sitnek was pronounced deceased at the scene and she was transported by Haller Funeral Home. Parmley was transported to the Adena Regional Medical Center by Huntington EMS for minor injuries. Two passengers in the Chevrolet Equinox were transported from the scene for medical treatment. Ronna Kinsel was transported to the Adena Regional Medical Center and an infant child was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Flinders was not injured, according to a news release from the patrol.

The fatal traffic crash is still under investigation.

Green Township EMS and Fire Department, Huntington Township EMS, Ross County ODOT, Ross County Coroner’s Office, and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
