Manual, St. Xavier, Sacred Heart and Trinity win swimming and diving team titles
The Manual High School girls and St. Xavier boys swimming and diving teams rolled to titles Saturday in the Region Four Championships held at the University of Louisville’s Ralph Wright Natatorium.
Manual’s girls won 10 of 12 events and finished with 519 points. Male won the other two events and was second with 438 points.
Winning multiple events for Manual were seniors Jenna Brown (200-yard freestyle, 100 butterfly) and Olivia O’Bryan. Male got victories from its 200 medley relay team and sophomore Isabelle Bodart (500 free).

St. X won all 12 events and scored 714 points to capture the boys crown. Manual was the runner-up with 454 points.
St. X got multiple wins from sophomore Alex Thiesing (50 and 200 frees), senior Will Scholtz (200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke) and junior Johnny Crush (100 free, 100 back).
The Tigers are seeking their 35th consecutive state championship.
The top two finishers in each event advance to the state championships set for Feb. 16-18 at the University of Kentucky’s Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington. Others may qualify based on their times and scores compared to others around the state.

Sacred Heart, Trinity win Region Five titles
Sacred Heart and Trinity won team titles Saturday at the Region Five Championships at U of L.
Sacred Heart won nine of 12 events and finished with 634 points. Assumption was the runner-up with 370 points.
The Valkyries got multiple victories from junior Ella Donlin (100 and 200 frees), sophomore Haley McDonald (200 individual medley, 500 free) and freshman Charlotte Crush (100 butterfly, 100 back).
Sacred Heart has won 10 straight state championships.
Third-place Eastern got wins from junior Allison Stern (diving) and sophomore Hanna Schmidt (100 breast).

Trinity won eight of 12 events and finished with 535 points to win the boys title. Eastern was the runner-up with 449.5 points.
The Shamrocks got multiple victories from senior Caleb Mullikin (100 and 200 frees) and sophomore Sawyer Tapp (100 butterfly, 100 back).
Eastern junior Curtis Feller won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.
