Ohio State is expected to add to its long list of NFL first-round draft picks Thursday night.

The Buckeyes have more NFL first-round picks than any other team in college football, coming into the 2023 draft with 87: four more than Southern California (83) and nine more than Alabama (76).

In 2023, Ohio State is expected to add three more players to that list with quarterback C.J. Stroud, offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba each predicted to be selected in the first 31 picks Thursday night.

Here's a look at Ohio State football's history of first-round NFL draft picks:

When was the last time Ohio State football didn't have a first-round draft pick?

Should all go as expected, this will be the eighth straight year that OSU has had a first-round draft pick. The streak starts in 2016 when a remarkable five Buckeyes were taken. In 2015, the first Ohio State player to hear his name called was wide receiver Devin Smith, who went in the second round (No. 37 overall) to the New York Jets.

Who was the first Ohio State football player to be selected in the NFL draft?

Ohio State's first-ever first-round pick in the NFL draft didn't come until 1938.

In the first two NFL drafts, the Buckeyes had five players selected, but no first-round picks. In 1938, half back/full back Jim McDonald changed that, going No. 2 overall to the Philadelphia Eagles after being a senior All-American half back and quarterback for Ohio State in 1937.

McDonald never played for the Eagles, but instead played two seasons with the Detroit Lions.

How many No. 1 picks has Ohio State football had in the NFL draft?

Since the NFL draft's inception in 1936, Ohio State has had three No. 1 overall picks.

Linebacker Tom Cousineau was the Buckeyes' first No. 1 pick in 1979 to the Buffalo Bills. He played six seasons in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers from 1982-87. He was named to the NFL All-Rookie team in 1982 and was either first- or second-team All-Pro in 1983 and 1984 by multiple publications.

Defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson turned a first-overall selection out of Ohio State in 1994 into a 13-year career with the Cincinnati Bengals, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins, recording 390 tackles, 39 tackles-for-loss and 54.5 sacks.

Offensive tackle Orlando Pace was Ohio State's most recent No. 1 overall pick. He was the first name called in the 1997 draft to the St. Louis Rams before amounting to a Hall of Fame career where he played in seven Pro Bowls.
