Ohio State has some big shoes to fill at quarterback in 2023.

C.J. Stroud announced Monday that he would enter the 2023 NFL draft, ending his career as, statistically, one of the most decorated quarterbacks in Ohio State history.

Heading into the 2023 NFL draft as likely one of the first three quarterbacks to be selected, here's look at the legacy Stroud is leaving at Ohio State.

C.J. Stroud has the second-most passing yards in Ohio State history

In two seasons as Ohio State's starting quarterback, Stroud recorded more passing yards than all but one former Buckeye: J.T. Barrett.

Stroud is one of two Ohio State quarterbacks, along with Barrett, to eclipse 8,000 career passing yards, recording 8,123 in 830 career pass attempts. Barrett is Ohio State's career passing yards leader with 9,434 on 1,211 pass attempts between 2014-17.

Stroud's two seasons as Ohio State's starting quarterback are the second- and third-most passing yards ever by a Buckeye in a single season. Dwayne Haskins has the most with 4,831, which is also a Big Ten record.

But Stroud is the only Ohio State quarterback ever to pass for more than 500 yards in a game, recording 573 passing yards, six touchdowns and an interception against Utah in the 2022 Rose Bowl.

C.J. Stroud has the second-most touchdown passes in Ohio State history

Despite starting for only two seasons, Stroud is one of two Ohio State quarterbacks to eclipse 80 career touchdown passes.

Stroud threw 85 touchdown passes in 830 pass attempts, sitting behind Barrett's 104 touchdowns across four seasons, which stands as a Big Ten record.

Stroud is one of three quarterbacks — along with Haskins and Justin Fields — to throw more than 40 touchdown passes in a season for the Buckeyes. Stroud is the only player in Ohio State history to throw at least 40 touchdowns twice. Haskins' 50 touchdown passes in 2018 remains a Big Ten record.

Stroud tied Ohio State's record of six touchdown passes in a single game twice in 2021 against Utah and Michigan State, sharing the record with Fields, Haskins, Barrett and Kenny Guiton.

C.J. Stroud is the most efficient quarterback in Big Ten history

Stroud has the most efficient season of any quarterback in Big Ten history, posting a pass efficiency rating of 186.6 in 2021, which is an Ohio State and conference record.

While Haskins holds the school record with a 70% completion percentage in 2017-18, Stroud's 2021 season set an Ohio State season record for the highest completion percentage of any quarterback with a 71.9% completion rare in 441 pass attempts.

Stroud also has the season and career records for passing yards per game, averaging 369.5 yards per game in 2021 and 300.9 yards per game through his three seasons at Ohio State.
