Many’s Tackett Curtis reels in MaxPreps top Louisiana player recognition

The postseason accolades are beginning to roll in for Many linebacker/quarterback Tackett Curtis, who is expected to sign with USC next Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Curtis was named the 2022 MaxPreps Louisiana High School Football Player of the Year. Curtis led Many to its second LHSAA state title in three years on Saturday, when his Tigers outlasted Union Parish 35-13 in the Caesars Superdome.

The two-way standout recorded 112 tackles, six sacks and 16 tackles for a loss this season while picking off four passes. On the offensive side, he rushed for 1,115 yards with 14 TDs and four punt returns for scores. He had two scoring runs in the championship game.

Many was 13-0 this season and 50-6 over four years with Curtis in the starting lineup. He earned MVP honors in the LHSAA Non-Select Division III title game. A four-star recruit, per 247Sports, Curtis was offered by nearly 50 schools before narrowing his decision to USC, Ohio State and Wisconsin last year.

Curtis will graduate next week and will begin classes at USC on Jan. 5.
