Tropical Storm Sam formed far in the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane Friday and a major hurricane — Category 3 or higher — during the weekend. The projected path shows Sam close to the eastern edge of the Caribbean by Tuesday and gradually turning to the northwest. From there, it’s unclear where the storm will go.
