Maple School Board names new superintendent
Jan. 30—MAPLE — The Maple Board of Education announced Monday, Jan. 30 that Karl Morrin will be the next superintendent for the School District of Maple.
The board unanimously approved hiring Morrin, who currently serves as the superintendent of the School District of Florence County, according to a news release from Cooperative Educational Service Agency 12 (CESA 12). He embodies the energy, integrity and genuine passion for serving students the board felt was essential for its next leader, the news release said.
Morrin has been the Florence County superintendent since 2021. Prior to Florence County, he served as the assistant superintendent of Menominee Indian School in Keshena where he began working in 2014. Morrin, who has been in K-12 education for 27 years, is also the current president of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Board of Control.
"I am truly honored to be named the next district administrator for the School District of Maple," Morrin said in the news release. "This district has a commitment to excellence in and out of the classroom, which I have watched grow into being one of the best districts, not only in the area, but in the state.
"Being a native of Washburn, I am very familiar with all of the towns and villages that make up the School District of Maple. My goal is to be a visible leader throughout our communities and lead our district, so each and every one of our students find success now and in the future," Morrin said.
The new superintendent will step into the role July 1 when current District Administrator Sara Croney retires. Croney has served the school district since 2015.
