These maps show power outages on the MS Coast as severe weather moves through the area

Severe weather is expected to start moving through the Mississippi Coast by midnight, but winds have been strong since lunchtime.

Those wind gusts could reach tropical storm force, up to 55 mph, overnight as the weather deteriorates, the National Weather Service said Tuesday.

Much of the Coast is currently under a high wind warning and Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties are under a tornado watch.

In addition to wind gusts, South Mississippi could see coastal flooding, hail, tornadoes and power outages, according to the NWS forecast.
