Marathon County inspections: Restaurant has 10 violations; another told 'entire kitchen' needs cleaning

The following are the latest results of Marathon County Health Department inspections on licensed food establishments and other types of businesses, which the Wausau Daily Herald will report monthly.

Dorchester

  • Jerkwater Supper Club, 107760 Marathon County A: Jan. 19: Three violations: No approved certified food manager for establishment; women's restroom not provided with covered garbage can; urinal in men's restroom not functioning.

Edgar

  • Home Bar & Grill, 115 W. Redwood St.: Jan. 3: No violations found.

Marshfield

  • Subway No. 120, 1505 W. McMillian St.: Feb. 1: Two violations: Meatballs improperly heated and not at proper temperature; mop holder above slop sink broken.

Mosinee

  • Relocation Pub & Eatery, 1801 Marathon County XX: Jan. 17: Two violations: Regular cut fries, beef patties and frozen fish stored on floor in walk-in freezer; irreversible registering thermometer for measuring utensil surface temperature not in bar's high-temp dishwasher.

Rothschild

  • The Bar, 10302 Market St.: Feb. 8: Three violations: Rinse water of ware washing machine not at proper temperature; tiles broken on floor between prep tables, grill and char broiler and not easily cleanable; no backflow preventer between the faucet end of the mop sink and splitting valve.

Schofield

  • Evelia's Restaurant, 3406 Schofield Ave.: Feb. 7: No violations found.

  • Wausau Country Club, 208 Country Club Road: Feb. 9: Three violations: Tuna steaks thawed in reduced oxygen packaging; condiment squeeze bottle between slop sink and dishwasher full of what appeared to be dish soap; no plan for working with reduced oxygen packaging of fish.

Spencer

  • My Brother's Place, 113 E. Clark St,: Feb. 8: Three violations: No approved food manager for establishment; nonfood contact surfaces of pizza oven and microwave soiled; women's restroom toilet not clean.

  • Wells A&W Spencer, 804 S. Pacific Ave.: Feb. 2: No violations found.

Stratford

  • Buck-A-Neer, 1122923 Marathon County C: Feb. 8: Three violations: Spray bottles by waitstaff area need to be labeled with contents; reduced oxygen packaged fish improperly thawed (corrected during inspection); provide self-closing doors for restrooms.

  • Subway No. 119, 212400 State 97: Jan. 26: No violations found.

Wausau

  • Best Western Plus, 201 N. 17th Ave.: Feb. 7: Six violations: Sausage gravy in refrigerator not date marked; no single-use toweling or other hand drying device at employee handwashing sink; sausage gravy stored in unlabeled container; storage racks in the storage room made of plywood; refrigerator in storage room not equipped with thermometer; nonfood contact surfaces of storage room refrigerator soiled.

  • Chellis Street Pub, 265 Chellis St.: Jan. 25: One violation: Inside of microwave soiled.

  • Courtyard by Marriott, 1000 S. 22nd Ave.: Feb. 21: Four violations: Food items in kitchen refrigerator, such as onions and roasted peppers, not date marked; consumer advisory missing asterisk on the menu for the burger; no approved certified manager for establishment; food items in kitchen refrigerator, like cups of cream cheese, caramel bottle and cinnamon shaker, not labeled.

  • El Tequila Salsa, 151522 County Road NN: Jan. 5: Five violations: Pico de gallo and guacamole in reach-in cooler not at proper temperature; shredded beef in walk-in cooler exceeded date mark; person in charge not monitoring food temperatures for food during cold holding; reach-in cooler not sufficient in capacity to hold foods at proper temperatures; preparation cooler not equipped with integral thermometer.

  • Granite Peak Ski Area, 227200 Snowbird Ave.: Jan. 13: Nine violations: Backflow preventers not installed at mop sink faucets; sanitizer not used according to manufacturer's directions; person in charge not monitoring proper sanitizer concentrations and techniques; bin of sugar stored in unlabeled container; beer-battered onion rings, pretzel buns and straight-cut fries stored on floor in walk-in freezer; preparation tables in the Historic Chalet missing their thermometers; no service sink provided in Historic Chalet; walk-in cooler floor in the Sundance Chalet is buckling and ramp leading to cooler not in good repair; mops stored in Sundance Chalet not hung to dry between uses.

  • Hissho Sushi at Festival Foods No. 2692, 110 S. 17th Ave.: Feb. 23: One violation: No soap at handwashing sink.

  • Kentucky Fried Chicken, 222 Stewart Ave.: Jan. 25: One violation: Loose tiles on floor in front of food preparation sink and the drain in front of fryers.

  • Lemongrass Asian Fusion, 316 N. Third St.: Feb. 22: Three violations: Raw beef stored over containers of sauce (corrected during inspection); no soap and paper towels for handwashing at bar; label all storage bins in back storage room with contents.

  • Loppnow's Bar, 1502 N. Third St.: Jan. 18: Five violations: Ware washing machine not dispensing sanitizer; no test kit for monitoring sanitizer concentration; handwashing sink behind bar not handsfree; no handwashing signs at handwashing sinks. Re-inspected Jan. 25: Two violations: no test kit for monitoring sanitizer concentrations; handwashing sink behind bar not handsfree.

  • Nancy's Jamars Countryside Bar, 158241 E. Wausau Ave.: Feb. 6: Three violations: Chemicals stored on top of ice machine; person in charge unable to demonstrate knowledge regarding storage of toxic or poisonous materials in food establishment; thermometer used not accurate.

  • North End Pub, 1002 N. Third Ave.: Jan. 18: Two violations: Bleach in spray bottle extremely strong; working containers of bleach water not labeled.

  • St. Anne Parish, 700 W. Bridge St.: Feb. 23: Three violations: Food protection manager's certificate not posted; irreversible registering thermometer for measuring utensil surface temperatures not in hot water ware washing operation; retail food establishment permit not posted in conspicuous area.

  • Subway, 4300 Rib Mountain Drive: Feb. 13: Four violations: Meatballs in marinara improperly reheated and not at proper temperature; chemicals in storage room stored over sub sandwich wraps and extra utensils; person in charge unable to demonstrate knowledge regarding storage, use and disposal of toxic or poisonous materials in food establishment; retail food establishment permit not posted in a conspicuous area.

  • Subway No. 108, 2409 N. Mountain Road: Jan. 19: One violation: Current food protection manger's certificate not posted in establishment.

  • Thrive Foodery, 2105 N. Second St.: Feb. 15: Three violations: Thermometers in cooling equipment old and not measuring accurately; bulk dry ingredients, such as flour and salt, stored in unlabeled containers; single-use bowls seen being reused as scoops in bulk bins of dry ingredients.

Weston

  • Baymont by Wyndham, 5810 Schofield Ave.: Feb. 13: 10 violations: Sausage and eggs in hot holding unit not at proper temperature; dishes not sanitized after cleaning; person in charge unable to demonstrate knowledge of proper sanitization methods for utensils and food contact surfaces; test kit not available for checking sanitizer concentrations; soap not available at food employee handwashing sink; no singe-use toweling or hand drying device at employee handwashing sink; no current certified food manager for this establishment; two-compartment sink improperly used; handwashing sink is not handsfree; no handwashing signs at handwashing sink.

  • Holiday Inn Express, 4210 Barbican Ave.: Feb. 9: Three violations: Gravy in plastic container not date marked; gravy stored in unlabeled container; pancake mix stored on floor in kitchen storage area.

  • Jimmy Johns, 2205 Stewart Ave.: Feb. 22: Two violations: Foods stored in north preparation table not held at proper temperature; person in charge not monitoring food temperatures for cold holding.

  • Marshfield Medical Center-Weston, 3400 Ministry Parkway: Feb. 15: Three violations: Chipotle mayo, garlic mayo and ranch dressing in the walk-in cooler have exceeded their date markings; person in charge unable to demonstrate knowledge regarding importance of maintaining time and temperature control to prevent foodborne illness; desserts and baked goods in display case for retail sale not labeled.

  • Pho Zone, 4204 Schofield Ave.: Feb. 2: Seven violations: Raw meat stored in same container stacked on top of each other in under-counter cooler in kitchen; salad dressing removed from original container not provided with date mark; person in charge has not provided food training to employees on cooler organization to eliminate nesting of raw meats, date marking ready-to-eat food and temperature control; employees seen washing hands in ware washing sink; food contact surfaces of prep table cooler, cooler doors and door handles dirty; floor between kitchen and staircase no longer smooth and easily cleanable; kitchen floor soiled. Re-inspected Feb. 2: No violations found.

  • Tine & Cellar, 3806 Schofield Ave.: Feb. 22: Eight violations: Potato-bacon soup and mashed potatoes improperly reheated and not at proper temperatures; no test kit available for monitoring sanitizer concentration; handwashing sink to left of grill line needs repair; employee working in food preparation and cooking area without a hair restraint; must use spoons or scoops, not small metal cups or glass bowls, to dispense items in food preparation tables; upright cooler left of cook's line needs door seal repaired; top of dishwasher needs cleaning; entire kitchen needs cleaning.
